J.Nichole Smith is a commercial pet photographer, marketing consultant and dog expert. In 2005 she founded dane + dane studios, a creative studio for pet businesses. In 2007 she co-founded Dog is Good, a lifestyle company for dog lovers, which is now a multi-million dollar business.
In addition to championing her own brands, Nichole has spent the last decade crafting creative strategies and campaigns for the most influential individuals and brands in the pet industry, including the likes of Purina, Petco and Victoria Stilwell.
In 2012, Nichole traded sunny California for swinging London. Later that year, her coffee table book ‘Puppyhood’ was released to critical acclaim. In 2014 Nichole graduated with Distinction from Kingston University’s MA Marketing program. Immediately following, Nichole opened Little & Large, a fine-art pet photography studio and dog boutique in SW London.
In 2016, Nichole sold her retail business and launched Working with Dog, a community based around providing petpreneuers with simple, actionable marketing strategies. Later in 2016, her book “Million Dollar Dog Brand – insights from the pet industry’s most inspiring startups” will be published. Nichole also keeps busy offering marketing courses, one-to-one consulting and keynote speeches (primarily to women) on topics relating to ‘marketing genius’ and entrepreneurship.
She currently works from London traveling often to the U.S. and various locations in France and Italy (traipsing from mountain to seaside with her husband, his cycle travel business and their ‘more-baby-than-dog’, Charleston).

Commercial animal photographer, innovative thinker, serial micropreneur, published author and fearless solo road tripper.
Jamie Piper (née Pflughoeft), is a commercial animal photographer whose colorful, engaging style has been influencing pet photographers around the world since the early days of her business in 2003. An innovative thinker and fearless entrepreneur, she excels at high-stakes, high production-value shoots, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to each of her corporate clients. Jamie is the author of Beautiful Beasties, a Creative Guide to Modern Pet Photography (Wiley), now considered a bible of sorts by amateur and professional photographers alike.
She considers herself a creative serial micropreneur, and when she isn’t on set, she is dreaming up her next personal project or umpteenth business idea. Officially, Jamie retired from teaching pet photographers in 2011 when she and I held our last ‘Passport Workshop’ in San Diego [where she promptly fell in love with the city and made it her personal mission to move there from rainy Seattle some day – which I am happy to announce, she’s now done!] So it is a great honor and privilege to have her with us at the P4/Luxe retreat – not just because she’s one of the original pioneers of pet photography, but also because she 100% specializes in commercial work now and is going to take you behind the scenes into the world of six-figure high-production work. We are going to dig deep into how to bid for big commercial pet photography jobs [and small ones too] and discuss all the in’s and out’s of adding this type of service to your resume.

Sherryl is mega-watt lady. One of those people who walk in the room and the whole places feels brighter. If you’re lucky enough to sit across from her for coaching or a workshop, you immediately get swept up in her brilliant storytelling and unforgettable charisma.
If you were to ask Sherryl what she does for a living she might say she provides leadership coaching, augmented by a sprinkling of facilitation, assessment, training, and consulting as appropriate. But what she really does is change lives, solve problems, save teams and wields both science and a bit of magic to create real solutions and tangible results.
Usually her work involves leadership development coaching for executives and senior managers, with a specialty in technical environments. She is also noted for her experience coaching and development for leadership teams and high-impact project teams. Her work often includes retreat facilitation for leadership teams and Boards of Directors. However Sherryl has also developed a special niche expertise on the topic of coaching and facilitation for women in leadership roles in business or community.
We are very lucky to have her and all of her wonderful, varied experience and knowledge with us at our little retreat January. Her topics of focus will revolve around self-sabatoge and overcoming the obstacles our creative minds and businesses often throw in our way.
