I’m Terran Bayer (sounds like Karen with a T) and I’m a creative. My passions are graphic design and photography and I’m pretty lucky that I’ve been able to do both as a career for the past 15 years.
I studied graphic design and photography in college ad graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S in Electronic Media, Arts and Communication. After school, I moved to San Diego, CA and held positions at a marketing agency, print shop and corporate office. I ran a small freelance graphic design business on nights and weekends during most of this time and in September 2007, I decided to embark on the adventure of working for myself as a full-time career. And what an adventure it has been!
I always say, “I’m a very small small-business” – it’s just me! I love it because I get to walk through every stage of the process with my clients. I’m the one they talk to, the one who does the work, the one who sees it all through. High-quality customer service is a must! If my clients are happy, I know I’ve done my job. And, if for some reason they aren’t happy, I sure as heck am going to do whatever I can to fix it.
What it all boils down to is this: I love to create. I love to design something from nothing. It fascinates me that we can start with a boring ‘ol Word doc with nothing more than black text on a white background and turn it into something special that people want to pick up and read. I’m not really sure how I do it but I think it’s pretty darn awesome that I do. Getting to be an artist is probably the best job in the world.
