Quick Canva Demo

So I’m just going to show you how to make a copy of the working with dogs social media templates that you’re going to be receiving every month.

When you click on the link that’s on the social media template pages in Working with Dog, it will bring you to either the facebook template or an instagram template, depending on which link you click on. The key thing with this is that you absolutely 100% need to make your own copy of this template.

The reason being, and it’s a canva-led thing, not anything that we’ve set up, is that if you just edit this template as it is, then that’s going to change the template for everybody who downloads it after you and probably for people who are still working on it and have it open as well.

But it also means is that you won’t have any of your changes saved.

So you need to think of this as a template that you copy into your own Canva account.

So, go to file, make a copy, and it will open a new tab and it will rename it.

This is my January facebook template. I’m just showing you that so you know, absolutely 100%, whenever you’re editing a template that it’s yours that you’re editing and not the master Working with Dog template. So just make sure whenever you’re doing anything on the template to check up here and see that it’s actually yours, your copy.

So once you’ve done that, and then these are the templates you’ve got for this particular month because we’ve given you the option to add your own logo into join our pet walking challenge. These are set up for optimal facebook post size, and what you can do is change the text if you wish. So just highlight the text, and you can change the text here. You can swivel it around so you can make it go vertical or horizontal, you can change the image here. If you double click on it, you can see that this submission is quite large and it’s been zoomed quite a long way in. If you want to delete this image is hit delete, and then come over here to elements and then photos and then you can do search and you’ll find some pictures that you need to pay for. But, but there are loads and loads of really cool free ones, so there’s no need to buy one unless you particularly fallen in love with one and it’s absolutely perfect for you to use.

All of these are fine for you to use, you’re not going to get into trouble for using any of these images. So see you can just drag zoom in as far as you want and then just click away from anywhere, to kind of come off that image and you can also add more text so you can just drag a heading across there we go. Then just type over that or if you want to make sure that you’re keeping the same format and the same font and the same style. If you click on change the text here, change or like the text that you want the copy of and then just click on copy and then that will give you a copy of that text. So it’s just a really good from a branding perspective to keep the same font and the kind of the same side of style as well.

These are all named so you can tell what they are. If you want to share this with somebody you can send it to them via email, or you can also copy a link. They will get the same result as you just had by putting the link in to your browser here. You can also download your final result. Click on here to choose a PNG JPEG or PDF. You can decide whether you want a transparent background, although that’s a premium option with this kind of thing, you probably wouldn’t really need to worry about that if you’re just doing kind of basic social media posts. So don’t worry about doing that.

You can select your pages. You can also publish direct to social media so you can publish it to a facebook group or facebook page, twitter or get them printed directly or embed and put on your website as well. And so it’s a really, really easy way to get some high quality social media templates out there really quickly each month. It’s pretty straightforward to change all of these things. If you want to add in something like these lines, I just show you that that’s over in elements here. Oh, you can add footprints, little cartoons, it will be under shapes so you can look into shapes and then just at the particular shape that you want. So it’s worth having a look around.

You can also upload your own images

Just click on, ‘upload an image’ and then find an image on your computer. If you just want a background you can add that as well. So that’s a really, really quick way just to show you how to edit your templates. You don’t need to save along the way and as it saves automatically. So you’ll see up here and all changes saved. So if it’s not saved, that will say changes are unsaved. So just wait for a minute and you’ll see that all changes are saved and then just always took a check, that this is the one that you are editing when you’ve done with that and you want to come back to it.

But it’s just super important to remember to take that copy and then to always be working on the renamed copy rather than master template. So I hope you find that super useful. Enjoy!
