Social Influence at #Superzoo2017

1200x1200_superzoo_influence_v2The whole concept of ‘social influence’ is a fascinating one. As bloggers become influencers, and companies divert more and more of their marketing budgets from top line advertising to ‘sponsored content’, it truly is the wild wild west in this new micro-industry. Here in Working with Dog, we did a whole month on #petinfluencers back in February (definitely become a member and check that out if you’re interested in becoming an influencer or potentially hiring one but have no idea where to start).

Last week at Superzoo 2017 in Las Vegas, the pet influencers were out in force!

 

Our friends from @willowthewildandco, @sup_with_pup and @brindleberryacres, were in Vegas, and I had the pleasure of meeting @thedogist, @manny_the_frenchie, @odieseyes and several more ‘insta famous’ pets and their people.

manny_haloSeveral of these socially connected creatures were at Supzeroo on behalf of brands hoping leverage their fame… Halo brought Manny (the most influential dog on social media) and All Four Paws brought the Dogist (and held press conferences at their booths) but did it pay off for them on social media? Who stole the show when it came to dominating the conversations online during Superzoo 2017?  Let’s have a look… 

One of the things we love to do during and after any trade show, is take snapshots of conversations on Twitter to measure social influence. By interpreting data like number of tweets, likes, replies, re-shares and keywords surrounding an event account or hashtag, in a visual way, we can easily see hubs of social influence. Our resident social expert at workingwithdog.com, Niall O’Gribin of Digital Destiny Marketing, is a geek for this stuff and we’re so glad!

Social Influence on Twitter at Superzoo

In the graph above, you can see the most influential tweeters by the number of lines extending out from them (lines leading to other influential users are especially meaningful when measuring influence). Do you see your name on the graph?

We did this at Global Pet Expo this year as well, check out the graph from that show where we showed up as #9 in the top influencers.
